Objective : Developing a recommendation system to recommend educational content on the Pratham Open School Website. The recommendation system would recommend videos, audios and reading material to the students and would help them navigate through the content in a systematic way.
Concept : The Pratham Open School Website is a repository of educational content in different forms. Content is hosted in the form of videos, reading materials and games for children belonging to different age groups and grades. This content is available in 13 Indian Languages. The recommendation system would help children navigate through such diverse content.
Issues addressed: Open Educational Resources help children learn better with a variety of content types like videos, reading materials , games and so on. Children using these resources would want content which is appropriate to their age, grade and language. In order to master a particular topic, an in-depth coverage and understanding of the topic is necessary. The recommendation system would help the children by recommending all types of related content to a particular subject/topic/subtopic in the language of their preference. The recommended content would be age and grade appropriate and would help children master concepts and topics.
